Travel information

Aveiro is located between two international airports: Porto at 70 km, and Lisbon at 260 km, and connected to both by highway and railway networks.

The highway network allows easy access by car from both Porto and Lisbon, however, travelling by train may be the best option. Metro and Intercity Alfa Pendular trains have information in Portuguese and English.

From Lisbon Airport

From the Lisbon Airport, the simplest way to get to Aveiro is by train from Lisboa-Oriente railway station. To get there, you can use a taxi, (around 10EUR and 10 minutes trip duration), by bus (for example lines 5 and 44) or Metro, which has a terminal at the airport (ticket costs around 2EUR and the trip takes about 6 minutes). The train journey to Aveiro from the Lisboa-Oriente railway station takes between 2 and 30 minutes, depending on the type of train used. There are regular trains to Aveiro from Lisbon.

From Porto Airport

Arriving at Oporto Airport, the trip to the Porto-Campanhã railway station, which has direct rail connections to Aveiro, can be done either by taxi (for around 20EUR and takes around 30 minutes) or using the Metro, which has a terminal at the airport (ticket costs around 2EUR (Z4 ticket) and the trip take about 32 minutes). The train journey to Aveiro from the Porto-Campanhã railway station takes between 40 and 75 minutes, depending on the type of train used. There are regular trains to Aveiro from Oporto.

Traveling from Lisbon to Aveiro by Train:

Oporto-Aveiro-Lisbon train is a good choice for those who want to reach Aveiro from Lisbon, with some trains taking only 2 and a half hours.

Traveling to Aveiro by road:

Driving from Oporto to Aveiro takes around 45 minutes, from Lisbon around 2 and a half hours, both using the highway A1, and only 2 hours from Spain using the highway A25.
